Rosewood are not-for-profit aged care providers with exceptionally high standards of care. They have over 100 staff including clinical nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, hospitality staff and maintenance workers that rely on technology to deliver the best possible care to older adults.
As their IT partner of choice since 2008, Bremmar has had a rewarding journey with Rosewood. We are responsible for delivering complete IT services that help the organisation to provide high levels of assistance to elderly people as well as implementing projects, such as the IT set up of their new aged care facility in Leederville.
The start of a solid partnership
“Everything started with simple IT support. Then, in 2010, there was a shift in Rosewood’s approach to IT and we realised that we are very good at aged care but IT was not a core business for us. It was common sense, so we restructured all the IT responsibilities to a company that knew what they were doing!” remembers Bill Dyas, Rosewood’s Internal Project Manager.
From that year on, the relationship only grew. In 2011, Rosewood were due for a new server, where Bremmar presented them the option of moving to a cloud environment using both, Bremmar’s datacentre and the cloud. “It made more sense. Bremmar took all the responsibility from us and, to this day, I think it was a very good move”, states Bill.
Taking IT to the next level
As with most NFPs, Rosewood has had great challenges in recent years as subsidies keep decreasing and they have to find ways to make more with less. This includes less funding for technology when the organisation can’t run without IT – everything is done through a computer, from Medicare records to patients’ notes. As their Managed Services Provider it’s our goal to minimise costs, work smarter, have efficient IT support and provide solutions that are suited to Rosewood’s needs and budget limitations.

Money is not the main issue in IT, but making sure that everything works, even a simple click at 1:30am, that’s the real challenge,” he completes.
Every Bremmar client is assigned a small dedicated team, which means there’s always a friendly face on call to help. The person on the end of the phone truly knows their business and operations which eliminates the need to explain applications or requirements on every phone call.
The game changer
Opening its doors in August 2017, the Leederville location is now home to 120 residents of varying medical backgrounds. “Bremmar’s involvement in the project mainly consisted of transitioning us from a paper based aged care to electronic care, but it didn’t stop there. The project grew and Bremmar became responsible for planning and linking the Wi-Fi network within the building, for integrating the phone system which wasn’t working and for facilitating the communication between equipment vendors which wasn’t happening”, says Bill.
Nick Hughes, Bremmar’s Senior Client Manager and Solutions Consultant, concludes: “During the project, the IT & Telecomm third-party vendors were not aligned and not talking, which was impacting the overall results. We have a long-term, solid relationship with Rosewood and we couldn’t let that happen so we took on the responsibility for the entire IT component of the project, mediated all vendors and worked on Rosewood’s best interest as a NFP.”
Results speak for themselves
“The involvement of Bremmar in the IT implementation at Rosewood Leederville was central to the eventual successful commissioning of the whole interlinked Information and Communications system. As a result of that success, Bremmar have been engaged for the ICT component at Rosewood’s Head Office relocation to Mount Hawthorn and Rosewood’s AUD$70M West Perth redevelopment,” completes Bill.
To finalise, Bill takes a deep breath and concludes: “I think from a bricks and mortar management perspective, which I am. It’s very reassuring to know that we’ve got Bremmar on our side looking after all our IT – It’s one thing I don’t need to worry about and it gives us peace of mind.”
