Hawaiian is a Western Australian property group that owns and manages a portfolio of commercial, retail and hospitality properties. Operating since 1993, the company has achieved great business success and employs more than 70 staff. The IT department at Hawaiian includes an IT manager, responsible for the company’s overall IT strategy, and a helpdesk operator, responsible for the day-to-day support.
While Hawaiian was enjoying continued success and expansion, its existing IT environment struggled to cope with growth. In 2012, the IT team realised that the existing systems weren’t keeping pace with the company’s projects and developments. This posed a risk to slowing processes and impacting on productivity.
Even though an IT roadmap and plan was needed to be put in place for Hawaiian’s IT environment, it was difficult to focus on the big picture with support issues taking up time and attention.
“We needed support. We looked for a provider that had all the resources in-house and could offer us a team that would understand our IT environment front to back. I wanted to free-up my time from infrastructure support to focusing on the strategy and on improved systems for the business,” IT Manager Nathan Ellis said.
Hawaiian appointed Bremmar to support them and provide a Co-Managed IT service. This package meant that Hawaiian kept full control of IT operations and the overall strategy, while Bremmar managed services including monitoring, maintenance and some helpdesk tasks.

The company now has virtualised server infrastructure, a centralised storage solution and an off-site disaster recovery system. Nathan has full visibility of the company’s internal IT environment and has, more than ever, complete control over IT operations.
